Latin Football Noshs

The big game is a few weeks away and to prepare I've been going to football parties. Needless to say, the crowd's hungry.

Hungry fans can't subsist on potato chips and pizza alone.

Here are a few great munchies to keep your mouth busy between cheers...

Chips and salsa: A staple. Fresh salsa is best, but if you really must use canned, chuck some fresh cilantro and a healthy squeeze of lime to give it flavor. Also here are recipes for salsa verde and salchicha salsa if you're looking for something a littl different.

Guacamole: Any shlub can amde guacamole (this recipe makes it easy).

Homemade tortilla chips: Deep fry tortilla wedges; sprinkle with salt and chili powder; serve. Keep a couple bags of store bought too because these go fast.

Roasted peanuts: Shelled but not shelled, pan fried with garlic and dried chilies. Serve with lime wedges.

Nachos: Check out this recipe for the ultimate nachos.

Black bean dip: Whiz up some well cooked black beans, fried garlic, onions, toasted cumin, and cayenne in a food processor.

As we all know, the food is only half the battle. Here are two recipes for some great Latin drinks to along with your spread...

Michelada: A Mexican beer drink that makes even Pabst worth drinking.

Sangrita and tequila: You have to celebrate those touchdowns somehow...
